21 DAY FULL BODY CLEANSE

KICK OFF FALL: 21 DAY FULL BODY CLEANSE

With Dr. Kelly Simms

Meetings Start Saturday, September 7 at 2pm

What are the benefits of cleansing?

We are continually exposed to harmful substances all the time in our diet (pesticides, microbes, and metals) and the air we breathe. Our bodies do a pretty great job on a daily basis of eliminating toxin exposure. Cleansing is a strategy that helps support your body’s natural ability to rid itself of toxins. The body needs 21 days to desensitize from any outside food allergens and create new habits. Potential benefits of this program:

  • Combat seasonal allergies
  • Identify food sensitivities
  • Food cravings decreased or eliminated
  • Weight loss (last group cleanse greatest loss of 11.8 pounds/3 weeks and average loss of 2 pounds/week)
  • Increased energy and focus
  • Improved sleep
  • Better bowel habits
  • Learn how to eat real food
  • Rejuvenation from the inside out

What do I eat?

In addition to eating a diet that is filling and satisfying, you will be supplementing your diet with protein and herbs that support the body’s ability to detoxify and cleanse, including supplements for liver and bowel support. Your cleansing program will include specific foods from the major food groups: vegetables, fruits, protein sources including vegetarian and non-vegetarian sources, grains, and oils. These foods include nutrients that can help boost the activity of the enzymes and nourish the body’s most important detoxifying organs—the liver, the lungs, the kidneys, and the colon.

What do I receive and what is the cost?

  • Pre and post cleanse body composition analysis.  The body composition scale uses foot-to-foot BIA technology (Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis) to measure fat mass, fat free mass, fat %, total body water, BMR and Desirable Ranges.
  • Cost is $295
  • All supplements for the duration of the program, recipes and food outline
  • Four, hour long group consultation and education sessions (Saturdays at 2pm)
Additional Options:
  • Add resting metabolic rate analysis (to be scheduled separately): + $95
  • Resting metabolic rate (RMR) determines your body’s caloric needs based on your energy expenditure measured from your breath. The RMR test takes approximately 10 minutes to complete in the office.
  • Add food sensitivity testing and initial 30 minute individual consult for a completely customized cleanse experience:  + $475 (must be scheduled/completed by August 30th.)
    • Tests for antigens to 154 foods
    • 30 minute individual session to tailor cleanse to your individual health needs

STRESS & HORMONES

In one study, anxiety and depression were evaluated in relation to work hours. Researchers found that working over 55 hours per week increased the risk for anxiety by 1.54 and the risk of depression 1.66 times compared to those working 35-40 hours per week. This was particularly true for women, more so than men. Cognitive performance can also be impacted by work hours. A group of middle aged British Civil Servants (2214) were evaluated at baseline for vocabulary and reasoning ability. Five years later, those same persons were interviewed, and those that increased their work hours to 55 hours or more, were shown to have decreased reasoning and verbal ability, potentially associated with dementia later in life.

These two studies show the effects of overwork and deleterious health effects. If your environmental demands, such as work, family or other obligations, exceed your body’s ability to adapt you may begin to experience similar symptoms, such as anxiety; depression and decreased cognitive function. By evaluating lifestyle factors (sleep, work and relaxation) and addressing stress response, such as cortisol and hormone balance, we may be able to correct troubling symptoms.
Balance’s Naturopath, Dr. Kelly Simms often tests for stress hormone balance using easy, at-home saliva testing. With that data, Dr. Simms is able to design a plan to support the body’s ability to adapt and cope with stress using nutrition and herbs. Of course no diet, herbal or even pharmaceutical drug is a substitute for taking time to do their hard work and find balance in work and rest!
